Wall heating and cooling system

The constantly growing interest of investors in achieving a hygienically and architecturally clean space is causing increased also interested in wall heating. The company UNIVENTA is one of the few professional companies that, within its of the production and sales program deal with this method of heating. Thanks to our many years of experience, it is wall system with a perfect heating system that meets customer requirements. It is advantageously used as independent method of heating, but also in combination with other heating systems (e.g. as a supplement to the floor heating in the event that there is not a large enough floor area available in the space to achieve the necessary floor performance).

Wall cooling

If we blow cold water into the wall heating pipes, we get a completely different quality. Radiant processes work similarly to heating, the cold wall will reduce the temperature of the spatial thermal radiation and the air temperature will decrease from it.

Wall heating

The principle of wall heating is basically simple. The radiant heat flow from the heated wall is mainly used, while the walls themselves are able to reach a higher surface temperature thanks to the hot water pipes. Wall heating ensures a uniform temperature throughout the room. Our organism perceives such a layout very positively and therefore we feel very comfortable in such a room. If there is a need to increase the heat in the room through wall heating, it is possible in no time, as this type of heating responds very flexibly to the request. However, the temperature should not exceed 35°C.

Advantages of the wall system

Depending on the temperature of the heat-carrying medium, the system has the task of heating the wall surface (in winter), or to cool (in summer). From the point of view of a healthy environment, a higher relative humidity is significant, corresponding to a lower air temperature with the same thermal comfort, wall heating does not create significant air flow, there is no swirling and burning of dust. Due to the effect of heat radiation from the wall and thanks to the almost ideal distribution of temperatures, it is possible to reduce the temperature in the room by 3 oC – 4 oC, while each decrease in the room temperature by 1 oC represents an energy saving of 6%.

In the spaces where there is wall heating, there are no pipelines, which allows greater variability of the interior equipment and optically enlarges the space.

Possibilities of using the wall system

Wall heating is very similar to floor heating in principle of operation and operating conditions. The advantages of this heating method are large-area radiant heat and, above all, the ability to react quickly and thereby heat up the room faster. It is these properties that predetermine wall heating for a wide range of applications in healthcare, industry, public buildings, but also family homes.

Another possibility of use are special spaces where it is necessary to prevent dew on the walls (swimming pools, spas).

Use of the system
  • Family houses
  • Social facilities
  • Social buildings
  • Swimming pools
  • Rooms with an indoor pool
  • Rooms with higher moisture content
  • Industrial and production halls

Plastering the system

Construction readiness

Clean and adjust surfaces intended for wall heating.
Test the substrate to see if it meets the following requirements:

  • flatness and verticality
  • bearing capacity and strength
  • sufficient constancy of shape
  • uniform absorbency, homogeneity (equalization of absorbency is absolutely necessary for different or strongly absorbent substrates
  • roughness, dryness, dustlessness
  • the surface must not be dirty, it must not contain mold
  • the surface must not contain frost, or must be tempered above +5 °C
  • provide free passages under door thresholds or through the wall for heating pipes with protectors
  • ensure in advance the installation of wires under the plaster for the regulation sensors and the thermostat from the reference room, cut access for the supply pipes to the distributor
  • install distributor boxes ahead of time
  • ensure the gas supply to the boiler room and electrical installation for the boiler, regulation and pumps
  • count on a hot water heating system in the building
  • ensure a 230 V connection for installation in floors
  • ensure the closure of the object (windows, doors) against unwanted interference from the outside and possible freezing of the object

Thermal insulation

Thermal insulation meeting the thermal technical properties is attached to the prepared wall.
If it is a perimeter wall that is insulated from the outside, the installation of internal thermal insulation is not necessary.

Clamping bars

They are spread a maximum of 700 mm apart and fixed
with dowels. For walls lined with insulating boards,
the dowel must be embedded deep enough into the solid
background. Before laying the slats, it is necessary to design any possible ones
dilatation.

Heating pipe

The heating pipes are pressed into the clamping bars so as to create
horizontal meander with a spacing determined by the designer.
By using 4-layer pipes, aeration of the system is excluded.
The pipes offered by UNIVENTA are perfectly flexible.
Before plastering, the heating system must be tested for tightness, correctness and professional installation, and it must be pressurized!
It is especially necessary to take care not to
applying plaster to move pipes or slats.
The system is pressurized in the range of 0.2 MPa
up to 0.4 MPa and must last at least 24 hours in this state. The permitted pressure drop is 1/3 of the original value.

Plastering the system

Plaster mortars with a binder are suitable for wall heating systems: gypsum, gypsum/lime, lime/cement, or cement, but also special,
products recommended by manufacturers (e.g. heating plaster, clay
plaster). Plasters for wall heating systems must have good thermal conductivity, which can be achieved with a high volume
by weight in the dried state.
Lightweight or heat-insulating plasters are not suitable for heating conditions due to their poorer thermal conductivity. When using special types of mortars, it is necessary to get information from the manufacturer and plaster contractor.
